Dementia advisers

Our experienced and dedicated team of dementia advisers keep in regular touch with families.

Here to help

Our dementia advisers offer specialist advice, information and support. They are not clinically trained, but highly experienced in the support that makes a difference.

Dementia advisers will come to your home, discuss your needs and preferences and work with you to draw up a support plan. This is reviewed every six months, although you can talk to your adviser at any point as your situation and needs change.

It is a free service, supported by Wiltshire Council.

Confidential advice and up-to-date information

Dementia advisers can discuss the diagnosis and explain more about dementia and what might happen in the future. This can help you make informed decisions about care, treatment and support.

Practical local support in your area

Each adviser covers a different part of Wiltshire, so you will get to know the same person. They can tell you about local services and activities, from day care and respite to nutrition advice, and signpost to emotional and financial support. They work closely with local GP surgeries and other professional teams.

Individualised support - we are all different!

Dementia advisers take as their starting point the fact that everyone will have differing needs and preferences. They support people living with dementia and family carers in their own right and get to know their families well.

You have definitely touched our lives in a special way."
