Sidmouth St Club

Our Devizes day club is open four days a week for social interaction, small group activities and plenty of fun.

Sidmouth Street Club is 'one of the jolliest places in Devizes' according to one longstanding volunteer, and her verdict would be echoed by members, carers and many members of the local community.

Our first, and smallest club in the heart of Devizes provides a warm, stimulating and friendly environment for up to eight members at a time. It has strong links with the community and local actors and musicians and school children are frequent visitors. Regular activities include photography, painting, cooking, art therapy, mosaic making, dance, gardening and reminiscence. While there is a wide choice of small group activities, club members are also very welcome to 'do their own thing' in the company of others.

"After a hesitant start, mum grew to looking forward to her weekly outing and spoke highly of you all. It made a big difference to her day, being able to enjoy the company of others, including, of course the dogs, and she loved the craft sessions I would like to thank you for the relief it gave me. To know that she was safe and well cared for while I had a few hours to myself helped so much."

The club has won a number of awards, including Best Community Group in the Wiltshire Life Awards and a Services to the People award from the Mayor of Devizes. The garden, a haven of greenery maintained by volunteers, has won RHS awards and its category of Devizes in Bloom multiple times. It's greatly enjoyed by club members who plant and harvest their own vegetables and this year watched the progress of a nesting blackbird and her young.

Sidmouth Street is open from Tuesday to Friday for up to eight members at a time. It’s managed by Becci Field.
