Training for family carers

We run online and in-person training courses for family and friends who are caring at home for someone with dementia in Wiltshire.

Introductory course

Our introductory, seven-week courses run several times a year and are aimed at new carers or those who have not yet had the opportunity to take part.

The sessions are a great way to find out more about dementia, what the person you care for might be experiencing, and how to support them while looking after yourself too.

Our team of facilitators are all experts in their field and are experienced in running sessions for carers. However, the delivery is informal, with plenty of time for questions and discussion.

What carers say about the course

"The course is really good. So much useful information. I have realised that I do some things wrong, but I also do lots of things right which is very comforting. Every person who interacts with someone with dementia should do this course."

Family carer Training course for carers

"I expected to learn about the illness and the impact it can have on individuals and their families. The course surpassed expectations because of the amount of practical advice and information shared. It was particularly helpful and reassuring to speak with others, and to hear what they have to say from their own experiences."

Carer Training course for carers

"I thoroughly recommend this. It was so helpful."

Family carer Training course for carers

"We have appreciated the level of instruction and friendliness in just the first two weeks. So much of what we have already learnt has been of so much help to us, and sharing the information with our family has gone some way to easing our situation."
