Beyond Dementia has relaunched its online Support Village for families affected by dementia in Wiltshire.

The online tool brings together a wealth of services from other providers which might be useful for people living with dementia and their families.

It is divided into sections including Domestic, Social, Rights and Benefits, Emotional Support and Transport, with links to relevant organisations in each section.

"We know how important it is for families to find local services that can help with everyday life, whether it is house repairs, getting meals delivered, or getting out and about. The Support Village aims to bring a wide range of practical services together in one place, to help families find support quickly and easily"

Sarah Marriott CEO

"I probably came into caring as you did. One minute I was living my life, the next I was enmeshed in the Alice in Wonderland World of social services, memory clinics, aids, appliances and assessments. Becoming a carer is like falling through the looking glass: we discover a whole new world, one in which we must believe six impossible things before breakfast"

Marianne Talbot Carer

The Support Village was first launched in 2018, with the input of people directly affected by dementia, and has been used by hundreds of families since then. It has now been updated in line with recent accessibility guidelines, and made easier for users to navigate.

Sarah added: "We are delighted that this online tool is now up to date and accessible. We know the contents will change all the time as providers change so we will continue to work with families and professional partners to ensure the most useful information included."

The Support Village is linked with Beyond Dementia’s other online resource, the Wiltshire Dementia Roadmap, which supports families through the process of being diagnosed with dementia in Wiltshire.
