A new name for Alzheimer's Support

A new name for our much-loved charity

Welcome to Beyond Dementia.

We are so proud to launch our new name, reflecting how we see the person behind the dementia and how we support people to live active and meaningful lives in the years after a diagnosis.

We haven’t changed our ethos, our ways of working or our people. We are still an independent Wiltshire charity delivering practical support, one-to one care, day clubs, dementia advisers and our ever-growing range of community groups and activities. If you use our services, the joy, the moments of connection and the loving support will continue.

Why we changed

We have known for some time that Alzheimer's Support, our name of 35 years, although well-known and with a great reputation in Wiltshire, didn't represent all that we do. Sometimes people confused us with other charities or thought we only supported people with Alzheimer's.

After a great deal of thought and discussion with our staff, volunteers and the people who use our services, and with the help of a brand specialist Robin Worrall, we decided to be bold.

Beyond Dementia reflects our ethos that there is life to be lived, and enjoyed, after a diagnosis of dementia. That with the right support, for the whole family, it is possible to live well with dementia. And that while people are in our care, we don’t dwell on the dementia, unless they want to. At our day clubs we ‘leave dementia at the door’, and come together as a group of friends. In our community groups, we concentrate on the task in hand, whether it is singing together, creating art or enjoying the great outdoors.

You should soon see our new name across our social media, website and at our offices and day clubs in Wiltshire. Please let us know what you think.

We're still here for you
