A decade of dedication

A decade of dedication

Beyond Dementia is celebrating a special milestone as Home Support Worker and Sidmouth St club volunteer Kerry Rose marks ten years of dedicated care.

Kerry has spent the past decade helping people living with dementia remain independent while giving family carers valuable respite. He is known for his kindness, commitment and the positive impact he brings to the people he supports.

Kerry joined the team after he retired after many years of working in the motor industry. Encouraged by his wife Jackie Rose, who is Beyond Dementia’s Home Support Service Manager she said: “Kerry enjoys keeping busy and supporting people, so after retiring, I suggested he apply for a support worker role.

“At the time, I wasn't sure if it was the right thing for either of us - but after ten years, it definitely was, and I am very proud of him.”

Kerry’s warmth and approach have made a real difference to the families he works with. Sam Collins, East Regional Area Manager for Home Support, adds:

“I’ll never forget a conversation I had with the wife of a gentleman Kerry supports.

“She told me that as soon as Kerry steps into their home, the energy changes and becomes uplifted.

"She can relax and enjoy her break, confident that her husband is in the best possible hands.”

This milestone is a reminder of the important role home support plays in helping people living with dementia to live well, while giving carers the time they need to rest and recharge. A service that Beyond Dementia continues to deliver.
