"I recognise the enormous challenges faced by anyone living with Alzheimer’s, as well as families and carers supporting them.

"I also know the importance of keeping fit, so when I had the chance to help at Beyond Dementia's Movement for the Mind sessions in Chippenham, it felt like the perfect way to spend some of my free time since retiring.

"Alongside the movement sessions, I also volunteer with Chippenham Art group - and I have to admit, my art knowledge is pretty limited but that hasn’t stopped me.

"What I’ve learnt is that you don’t need any particular skills to help, you just need to have the ability to make everyone feel welcome.

"Both sessions offer more than just activity, there’s always a cup of tea, a slice of cake and plenty of time for those all-important chats.

"It's this warm atmosphere that helps everyone leave feeling refreshed and ready to face whatever comes next.

"Volunteering with this charity has been incredibly rewarding and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a meaningful way to give back."
