Kate's story

Kate and her husband Nigel raised more than £1,700 with an exhilarating hike through Nepal's Khumbu Valley Everest base camp.

Kate said: "We wanted to do it in aid of Alzheimer’s Support Wiltshire. I've been volunteering for the charity and knows their work is invaluable.

"As a nurse I've also spent many years in dementia care and understand the devastating effects on individuals and their families including our own."

The pair walked for up to 8 hours a day for 10 days reaching altitudes of 5,364m/17,598ft. They were rewarded with magnificent views, an experience they will never forget, and the knowledge that they have had a lasting impact in the lives of people affected by dementia back home.
