An award-winning and illuminating one-day course, originally developed by Buz Loveday and people living with dementia. It is for anyone who supports someone living with dementia and who wishes to understand more about dementia from the point of view of the person affected.
Learning to Live with Dementia
Duration: 7 hours in person or two 3.5 hour
Location: Online sessions via zoom
Annie Clayton, Alzheimer’s Support’s trainer, is licensed to deliver this dementia awareness course.
What the course covers
The interactive and informative day explores strategies for support that help people to maintain their independence and to ‘live as well as they can’ with dementia.
Key learning points delivered via embedded video clips of people living with dementia, sharing their experience of the effects and what we can do to help them live as well as they can.
Trainer-led interactive activities to consolidate the learning and encourage learners plan how they will use what they have learnt to make a difference for the people they support.
Opportunities to share experiences and knowledge.
Learning from Living with Dementia was created by Buz Loveday, founder of Dementia Trainers, with members of EDUCATE, a self-advocacy group of people living with dementia. It addresses all the Dementia Awareness learning outcomes (Tier 1) of the Training Standards Framework (Skills for Health & Health Education England and Skills for Care, 2018.)
