Movement for the Mind - Warminster

Movement for the Mind - Warminster

Our new Warminster Memory Group is for anyone with any kind of dementia in Warminster and their family carers.

It meets every Tuesday afternoon in the comfortable foyer at Christ Church for conversation over refreshments, followed by an activity including Music for the Mind and Movement for the Mind.

On the second Tuesday of the month we sing with David Moss, and on the fourth Sam Grief leads us in seated dance and gentle exercise. For the other weeks we meet as a memory cafe with a varied programme of entertainment and activities, with trained staff on hand to answer any questions about dementia and provide informal support.
The group is led each week by Amy Wyatt, and is very relaxed and welcoming - please give it a try!

Why take part

The groups were started in response to research showing the benefits of physical activity to people with memory and cognitive problems. Our facilitators include dance therapists, fitness coaches and physiotherapists who are specialists in their field and trained in dementia awareness.

What you can expect

Sessions will start with a warm-up before moving on to the main activity. Everyone is encouraged to do as much or little as they feel able to and you do not have to be 'super-fit' to take part. People with restricted mobility and wheelchair users are welcome. The exercise lasts for about an hour and at the end of the  refreshments are served during a social half hour before the group closes.
