Art group - Pewsey

Art group - Pewsey

Our Pewsey group meets every Wednesday morning from 10am to 12 noon.

The group was our first in Wiltshire and has held three local exhibitions of work since it was launched in 2013.

Family carers are encouraged to join in to create in their own right and trained volunteers are on hand to lend support as needed.

Why take part

Creating art can be therapeutic in all stages of life. It can be particularly helpful for people living with dementia who still enjoy the process of painting, drawing and being creative, and feel a sense of achievement with their finished work.

A lady in a grey jumper is in the foreground adding paint to a stencil stamp. The lady next to her in pale grey leans forward to reach the paint. There are three other ladies chatting together and a table full of paint, cups and fabric.

What you can expect

People living with dementia and a family carer create their own art projects under the guidance of our professional artist. We work at a leisurely pace with plenty of time for conversation and connection. No previous experience of art is necessary and everyone works at their own pace. Activities include a variety of art and craft projects, including painting, drawing, collage, printing, crafts, clay modelling and more.
