The Gastard Memory Cafe is for anyone living with dementia, memory loss or cognitive decline, and their family carers, in Gastard, Corsham and the surrounding area.
The groups meets on the third Tuesday of each month at the Village Hall, Velley Hill, Gastard for friendly conversation over refreshments, followed by a different activity each time.
Each session is relaxed and welcoming, with volunteers on hand to offer support.
Why take part
The Gastard Memory Café is a partnership project run by the Trustees of the Gastard Village Hall and Beyond Dementia. The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month, 2pm to 3.30pm. As well as catching up with friends and speaking informally to dementia professionals, café members can also enjoy games, music, talks and activities, and home made cakes.
What you can expect
Our first café opened in 2009 as a meeting place for people with dementia and their families, at a time when there were few opportunities to socialise with others affected. Since then our cafés have developed into much-valued social and information-gathering occasions where people can strike up friendships, chat informally to professionals, find out more about dementia and support from a wide range of speakers, and enjoy refreshments and entertainment.
