Muddy Boots and Walking Boots Assistant Facilitator

We are looking for a compassionate and organised Assistant Facilitator to support our much-loved Muddy Boots and Walking Boots groups. These sessions bring people living with dementia and their carers together to enjoy the outdoors, connect with others, and experience the benefits of nature in a safe and supportive environment.

You will play a key role in helping these sessions run smoothly—supporting participants, working closely with the Facilitator and volunteers, and helping to create welcoming, inclusive experiences for everyone involved.

What you’ll be doing

  • Helping to create a warm, safe and inclusive environment for people living with dementia and their carers

  • Supporting the planning and delivery of outdoor walks and activities

  • Accompanying and assisting participants during sessions

  • Building positive relationships with volunteers, staff, and community partners

  • Assisting with session logistics, including communication, planning, and record-keeping

  • Stepping in to lead sessions when required

  • Supporting referrals and signposting to other services where appropriate

About you

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Friendly, approachable and empathetic

  • Organised, reliable, and able to manage their time effectively

  • Confident communicating with a range of people

  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weathers

  • Committed to inclusion, safeguarding, and person-centred support

You’ll ideally have experience supporting community activities or working with older people or those living with dementia, but most importantly, you’ll share our values of kindness, respect, and compassion.

A driving licence and access to a car are essential.
